Leilani began riding western at 8 years old. She later moved to an English barn in her teenage years and began taking jumping lessons. She has worked at a horse rescue, helping to retrain the abuse cases. This included everything from a basic tune up to completely starting from scratch. She then interned at a dressage barn, where she received formal training through Second Level dressage. Leilani then competed at the Bluebonnet Training Challenge Expo, winning first in the youth category and third in her overall category. Because of that, she was able to go on and apprentice with Aaron England of England Versatile Horsemanship where she learned natural horsemanship.
